History

Founded in 1978 by Dr. Lou Netzer, Solvang Friendship House (SFH) is a licensed senior residential care facility serving the Santa Ynez Valley. SFH is dedicated to providing a safe, warm and supportive home for 36 seniors. SFH serves a growing population in need of affordable, high quality, assisted living & Alzheimer's - Dementia care. SFH is the only facility in the Santa Ynez Valley that provides dementia care.

A volunteer Board of Directors oversees SFH. The SFH Foundation, SFH Ladies Auxiliary, volunteers & donors have given their time, goods, services, and/or monetary funds to sustain SFH for 27+ years. SFH uses these gifts to carry on the high standards of extraordinary care & compassion to residents & their families. SFH is respectful of the duty & responsibility to protect & preserve these generous investments for the SFH community. Assisted living programs are available with other entities, which are 'for profit' & 'non-profit'; however SFH maintains rates in the lowest 15% on a national basis. Our Memory Care home is the only specialized Alzheimer's / Dementia facility in the valley, & very few exist within a 30 mile radius.
